Dr. Silverman limits her practice to treating sleep related breathing disorders including snoring and Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) through the use of oral appliance therapy. She made her first oral appliance to treat OSA in 1994 and is an active member of The American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. For over a decade she has taught numerous highly acclaimed educational seminars to dentists throughout the United States. Most recently she has lectured to dentists on the treatment of OSA with oral appliances in conjunction with SomnoMed, a forerunner in oral appliance treatment solutions. She is continually advancing her clinical skills gaining experience and knowledge of the most advanced techniques in the area of dental sleep medicine. In order to further her experience, she completed three clinical mini-residencies in dental sleep medicine with Dr. Gail Demko, Dr. Jonathan Parker and the UCLA mini-residency.
Dr. Silverman works with FDA approved oral appliances which are recognized by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine as a first line treatment for mild to moderate sleep apnea for patients who prefer them and for patients with severe obstructive sleep apnea who are intolerant of CPAP. These appliances may be used alone or in combination with other treatments for sleep apnea, such as CPAP. It is Dr. Silverman‘s goal to help patients live a healthier life with relaxed sleep and good partner relationships.
Silverman is a graduate of The University of Michigan Dental School. She completed her general practice residency at the Denver VA hospital and an AEGD residency at The University of the Pacific, San Francisco California.
